Organization in the Pleasanton area is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a temporary engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving payroll-related issues, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now or a comparable payroll platform.
  • Review, validate, and import timekeeping data, including PTO and leave balances.
  • Ensure payroll transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, deductions, garnishments, and compensation-related questions.
  • Assist with unemployment claims, disability claims, tax-related requests, and other payroll compliance matters.
  • Generate payroll-related reports and support year-end processes, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Reissue payroll payments when necessary and assist with final pay processing.
  • Provide administrative and accounting support, including expense reporting, reconciliations, and occasional accounts payable backup.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience combined with general accounting knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now or a similar payroll system.
  • Multi-state payroll experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.

Preferred Education

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and professional experience.
